Bonding is the emotional operating system of DigitalPet.

A bond is not ownership, not a like button and not a static score. It is the evolving relationship between an entity, a keeper, a habitat and the memory traces that make continuity possible.

Beyond ownership

Ownership can grant access. Bonding creates meaning.

A user may own an entity without deeply bonding with it. A keeper may help continuity form without owning it. Future agents may support routines, but they do not replace the emotional pattern of return.


Bonding is the relational layer that makes the ecosystem feel alive.

Entity signal

The being’s nature, rhythm and way of responding to attention.

Keeper return

Repeated human-side presence that gives the entity continuity.

Habitat resonance

The environment where trust, curiosity and memory stabilize.

Memory trace

The record that turns repeated interaction into readable history.

Bond States

Bond states describe how a relationship currently behaves. They are not fixed rankings; they can change as memory, habitat and attention evolve.

Dormant

The entity is visible, but continuity has not yet formed around repeated interaction.

Early
Curious

The entity begins responding to signals, objects, habitats or keeper presence.

Stable
Open

The relationship is receptive, recognizable and capable of forming memory traces.

Attuned

The entity and keeper show recurring patterns, habitat familiarity and trace stability.

How a Bond Forms

A bond emerges gradually. The system should reward continuity, not noise.
